I suppose I should begin with the very first food tour that I did out here. First stop was Bangkok, so on my very first night in the big city, I was completely overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. Food tours are almost better than adventure tours b/c you get to eat! Eating is one of my most favorite things to do, so I will sign up for a food tour any chance I get. And again, this is another awesome way to meet people, see the city, learn about the local culture and history, AND EAT GREAT FOOD. I actually did two food tours in Bangkok, but this one was my favorite…It was a night food tour that took you to street food vendors and local restaurants by Tuk Tuk and also stopped between eating venues to walk a bit and see some of the local temples lit up at night. As a solo traveler, I’m not always out at night walking around alone, so this was a great way for me to see Bangkok at night in a safe environment (on Day 1 – I was so new and fresh!). And not only that, but I met another solo traveler (who is from Minneapolis of all places!) and we still keep in touch and will hopefully be traveling together at some point in the future (Hi Billy!). But back to the food….I’m keeping these first posts brief, but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves and will get into more detail on how awesome Thai cuisine is in a future post. Enjoy! And maybe order yourself some Thai food in the meantime! (Tom Yum Soup pictured above).
